Support Groups
There are times when family and friends of someone with autism or other developmental disabilities need to know more about the impact of the disorder on their loved one and on themselves. Support groups provide people with common experiences or concerns a venue where they can gather to provide each other with encouragement, comfort, and advice.
In this practice we offer a place for parents and caregivers to share experiences, to get information and advise, to make friends and, in some cases, campaign for better services and provision for their children. We also offer support groups for extended family members including grandparents, aunts and uncles, siblings and spouses.
One area too often neglected are friendships. We offer support groups to friends and co-workers of people with ASD who want to maintain their friendships and good working relationships rather than walking away.
Support groups meet once a week for 75 minutes for 8 weeks. New groups are beginning all of the time. If you would like to join one of our groups please contact us.
